One thing in particular that struck me about Chicago was the high level of parking available, even near the El and subway lines (I was in Chicago for a transportation pricing conference, so I was kinda pbeing paid to think about these things). I don't think I'd ever seen a 10-storey parking garage til then. What strikes me as a bit sad is that Chicago is a beautiful city, and wouldn't it be so much better to get out and see it on foot, so you have time to take it all in? Some of us don't live in overly beautiful cities, so it seems like something that shouldn't be taken for granted.
