I was amused to see many examples of this type of heritage preservation in Chicago, where buildings like a Tudor mansion could be surrounded by modern or post-modern highrises. While a city needs to evolve to meet existing needs, I found this approach to heritage preservation a bit dissatisfying, as it only offered minor examples of what Chicago would have been like, rather than preserving neighbourhoods, streets or at least blocks that more authentically represent the evolution of the city. However, that's just my opinion.
