After the tumultuous devaluation of the Argentine peso in the early 2000s, an expatriate Argentine decided that he would donate this installation, shaped like a lotus to Buenos Aires. The installation was shaped like a lotus to remind people that although the lotus grows in a swamp, it thrives. Just as Argentinians were mired in a situation where their savings were worth nothing, and their standard of living was shot, there was still hope.
