Camera: Mamiya M645, f2.8 80mm Mamiya-Sekor lens. Buenos Aires, Argentina.
After the tumultuous devaluation of the Argentine peso in the early 2000s, an expatriate Argentine decided that he would donate this installation, shaped like a lotus to Buenos Aires. The installation was shaped like a lotus to remind people that although the lotus grows in a swamp, it thrives. Just as Argentinians were mired in a situation where their savings were worth nothing, and their standard of living was shot, there was still hope.
Cool.

We're going to need a few lotuses here in the U.S. when Bernanke and Gaithner get done demolishing the economy and the dollar.

is it really as big as it looks? a great idea behind the statue and a pretty impressive bit of engineering by the looks of things.
